General Notes
While Acadia has a good deal of bouldering history, it is not a well-documented history. There are a number of reasons for this lack of documentation. Firstly, the primary focus of climbing here has, in the past, been routes. With this route orientated focus comes the mentality that bouldering is just a form of training. Secondly, it is fundamental to the nature of the bouldering areas in Acadia, that giving detailed information about specific problems is difficult. All of this aside, Acadia has some of the best bouldering of any place in the country. In a relatively small area you have rock of varying compositions, some of the most amazing surroundings imaginable and ultra classic boulder problems of all grades. There are seven primary bouldering areas within Acadia and each area has a unique character all its own.
